Florida Volunteer Administration Certificate
The Florida Volunteer Administration Certificate (FVAC)
is offered by Volunteer Centers throughout the state of Florida, in
partnership with
Florida
Association of Volunteer Centers,
Volunteer
Florida, and the Points of
Light Foundation. The certificate is awarded to individuals
which successfully complete the Volunteer Management Training Series (VMTS),
a high quality, comprehensive course in volunteer
management delivered to community organizations and
volunteer managers by local Volunteer Centers.
The curriculum, developed by the Points of Light Foundation, is
based on research and effective practices in volunteer management.
The
VMTS course consists of 6 modules, presented in 4 hour
sessions by a rotating panel of local experts and facilitators in
combination with small group activities and discussions.
The
primary goal of VMTS is to enable organizations in the
Big Bend area to mobilize and
manage volunteer resources for the greatest possible impact on their
specific cause and needs.
The case for volunteer Resources
management:
1. Volunteers need support and leadership to be most
effective and to sustain their commitment and involvement.
2. Volunteers are a necessary and critical resource for healthy communities.
3. Mobilizing citizens to volunteer is very challenging in today’s environment
due to competition and lack of discretionary time.
4. Nonprofit and public organizations need help meeting this challenge. They
must develop or enhance their capacity (skills, knowledge, abilities) to
effectively recruit, focus, and support volunteer resources.
5. Competent leaders and managers build organizational and community capacity to
maximize volunteer resources to meet community needs.
