Library Volunteer Program

Leon County Public Libraries need the help of dedicated volunteers to meet the challenges & needs of our large population of library users.

Volunteers are considered valued members of our library family.
As a library volunteer, you will:

  • Acquire new skills and knowledge;

  • Gain a sense of satisfaction in serving your community;

  • Support literacy and life-long learning;

  • Be recognized through frequent expressions of appreciation;
  • Receive training from an experienced, patient, and well-informed volunteer supervisor;
  • Meet new and interesting people who share your love of books; and
  • Have fun & feel appreciated!

VolunteerLEON oversees the Leon County Library Volunteer Program.  Persons wishing to volunteer at any Leon County Library must first contact VolunteerLEON to submit an application and go through orientation.  Volunteer positions for adults, youth, and court ordered volunteers are available throughout the year. VolunteerLEON also maintains library volunteers' record of service, formally recognizes volunteer contributions to the County several times a year, and provides professional development for library volunteer supervisors on volunteer management.
