So what exactly is HIPP?
The Help Increase the Peace Program is an interactive non-violence,
conflict resolution and leadership workshop for middle and high school
students and adults who work, volunteer, or live with youth.
How does it work?
Participants learn through activities, discussion, and others’
experiences in a small, diverse group.
HIPP teaches skills useful in workplaces, schools, families, and
everywhere else!
What topics does HIPP cover?
Each HIPP workshop covers all of the following core knowledge in
addition to some extra areas of focus:
Core Topics: Interpersonal Communication Conflict Resolution Teamwork Anger Affirmation Diversity
Additional Topics:
Hunger & Homelessness
Diversity Continued: Age-ism
Diversity Continued: Economic Diversity
I want to sign up for a workshop, but I’m afraid I won’t know
anybody. That’s perfectly okay! The majority of HIPP participants come in not
knowing any of the other participants. Part of HIPP is getting to know
new people, and we have many fun activities that make this quite
painless and lots of fun. You’ll be surprised at how many new friends
you’ll make, young and old. If you’re still not sure, feel free to
invite a friend to go through HIPP with you. I like this idea, how can I take my experience further?
After successfully completing a full Basic and Advanced HIPP workshop,
participants with a solid understanding of HIPP and interpersonal skills
will be eligible for our comprehensive facilitation training. We
encourage both youth and adults to pursue facilitation training.
How does it work? What are the benefits of being a HIPP Facilitator?
By taking our facilitator training you will receive all the training
and resources needed to be a HIPP facilitator, conduct workshops, train
others, and will gain a versatile toolbox of activities to engage others
in the learning process. This is an excellent way to practice
leadership, volunteer in a meaningful way, and create actual change in
the community!
Where can HIPP workshops take place?
The Help Increase the Peace Program can be taken to school clubs,
community centers, places of employment, integrated into school classes,
churches, programs, and much more. |
