Title:

Public Relations Intern

Department:

Literacy Volunteers of Leon County

Major Objectives:

To promote awareness of Literacy Volunteers of Leon County and its educational programs that assist adults and families with Basic Reading and English for Speakers of other Languages skills.

Responsibilities:

Organize and implement 2003 Literacy Celebration commemorating Literacy Day and International Literacy month. Evaluate, plan, organize and implement agency printed marketing materials including the website. We will work with you to develop a program that meets your needs and involves your abilities, talents and interest.

Qualifications:

Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications and Graphic Arts majors are preferred. Must possess clerical/administrative competence. Computer skills are desired. Must have transportation. Must be able to write and speak effectively. Must be a self starter with good motivation and initiative.

Training/Preparation:

Hours and days are flexible; usually between 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday- possible weekends/evenings required to complete project; Duties will be performed at the main public library and/or off-site as deemed appropriate.

Time and Place:

On the job training is desired.

Commitment:

One full academic semester.
