Title:

Youth Development Program Assistant

Department:

4 - H, Leon County Cooperative Extension

Major Objectives:

To Promote awareness of the 4-H Program and its educational programs that assist children in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directed and productive individuals.

Responsibilities:

Plan and organize lesson plans in animal and environmental science areas for classroom instruction. Develop and implement science related 4-H learning activities for youth.

Qualifications:

Elementary or secondary education, science education, horticulture, or agriculture science majors are preferred Must have transportation. Must be able to work well with children. Must be able to write and speak effectively. Must be a self starter with good motivation and initiative.

Time and Place:

Hours and days are flexible; usually between 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday. Location of daily assignments may occur at the Leon County Extension Office and/or off-site as deemed appropriate.

Training/Preparation:

Participants will receive on the job training.

Commitment:

One full academic semester.
