Title:

Family Nutrition Program Intern

Department:

Leon County Cooperative Extension / Family & Consumer Sciences- Family Nutrition Program

Major Objectives:

To provide food and nutrition educational opportunities for limited resource youth in Leon County.

Responsibilities:

Design an original or adapt an existing food and nutrition curriculum. Using that curriculum plan, prepare, teach and evaluate a series of classes (at least 6) for limited resource youth.

Qualifications:

Junior or Senior. Preferred majors include - Family & Consumer Sciences Education, Child Development, Food and Nutrition, Elementary Education, Health Education, Leisure Sciences. Must be able to relate to and work well with children. Must be flexible, dependable, and a self starter. Must have transportation.

Time and Place:

Hours and days are flexible; usually between 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday. Duties will be performed at the Leon County Extension Office and at the site of the class series. Site of classes TBA after determining the best location for the intern.

Commitment:

10 - 15 hours per week for one semester (if intern is interested the experience could continue/develop further).
