The Public Works Department
consists of eight major divisions: Administration/Transportation
Systems, Engineering Services, Operations, Solid Waste, Mosquito Control
& Stormwater Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, Fleet Management
and Animal Control. The main objective of Public Works is to
ensure these core services are provided to constituents in a timely,
efficient, consistent, and professional manner. The Public Works
web site helps communicate the services that are available and the
functions performed.
Responsibilities:
First and foremost, we need to update our web
page(s). Currently, there are programs explained on the web page
that are no longer in existence. Beyond the initial phase of
making our web pages current, we need assistance in creative ways to
communicate the “Public Works Message” and facts of interest to
citizens. Also, the intern would be responsible for tracking and
fixing broken hyperlinks.
Qualifications:
Knowledge
and Proficiency in Front Page (a web page software)
Ability
to creatively work within parameters of the over-arching look and
feel of the County’s web page
Attention
to detail will be critical
Student
should have experience in creating web pages from scratch
Basic
understanding of HTML Language would be helpful
Time
and Place:
Flexible hours within the
8:00 am to 5:00 pm
time frame, and flexible days, although Tuesday thru Thursday would be
preferred. The intern would report to the Public Works Facility at
2280 Miccosukee Rd.
Commitment:
Three months with the possibility of extending the
time depending on the updating if needed. 10 hours a week should
be sufficient.
