VolunteerLEON, the Leon County Volunteer Center

VolunteerLEON's Featured Story - May 2004

Congratulations to Florida Volunteer Administrator Certificate Recipients!

During an eight week course this spring at Tallahassee Community College , 28 of Leon County ’s volunteer coordinators, from 19 different nonprofit and governmental organizations, earned the Florida Volunteer Administration Certificate.  Wendy Spencer, Volunteer Florida’s Chief Executive Officer, spoke to the volunteer administrators and executive directors invited to the ceremony, prior to presenting the certificates with Jeri Bush, VolunteerLEON’s Director.

Volunteer Florida , Florida Association of Volunteer Centers and The Points of Light Foundation collaborated to develop the volunteer management training program. VolunteerLEON is the first Volunteer Center in the state to deliver the program in it’s entirety.  Our shared vision is to professionalize the field of volunteer management so that all volunteers are able to make a positive difference in their community and ensure that volunteers deliver quality services.

The certificate program will be offered again through Tallahassee Community College in Spring 2005.  If you are interested in participating as a student or trainer, please contact us at (850) 921-3015 or volunteerleon@leoncountyfl.gov
