25 years they have graciously
hosted a community-wide celebration of the spirit of volunteer
service that has become our community's signature volunteer
recognition event. VolunteerLEON's own Amanda Phillips was a winner in
the Civic Services category. Amanda is indeed a very special volunteer. She is
currently working on her Master's Degree in
Integrated Marketing and Management Communication at FSU, works part
time at MGT of America and finds time to volunteer more than 25 hours a
week as VolunteerLEON's Special Event Coordinator. Amanda has
extraordinary organizational skills that she has used to coordinate
"service projects" that have benefited our community greatly.
Through her leadership, volunteers built wheelchair ramps and houses,
gave birthday parties for children in shelters, renovated playgrounds,
did yard work for the elderly, supplied Christmas gifts for those in
homeless shelters and more. Congratulations to Amanda and to all
of this year's Tallahassee Democrat's Volunteer of the Year's nominees
and winners. View the Tallahassee Democrat
