VolunteerLEON and
Hands On Miami are running a
Disaster Supply Kit
Drive at the UM / FSU football game on Monday, September 4th at the
Orange Bowl. Volunteers, along with former UM football team captain and
retired Colts/Browns NFL player Joaquin Gonzalez, will be collecting
flashlights, AM/FM radios, batteries, manual can openers and first aid
kits. All donations collected in Miami will be distributed to seniors,
disabled individuals, and economically disadvantaged families in
Miami-Dade County.
Football fans watching from Tallahassee can get
involved by collecting supplies at game day parties for local
economically disadvantaged seniors and persons with disabilities. To
participate in the drive locally, collect flashlights, AM/FM radios,
batteries, manual can openers and first aid kits at your home or
business. Items may be dropped off at the American Red Cross
located at 187 Office Plaza Drive. Cash donations will also be accepted
to purchase additional supplies, please notate FSU-UM disaster supply
drive on the checks to the American Red Cross.

Corps, Volunteer Reception Center, and Safety of Seniors are initiatives
from VolunteerLEON that prepare the community for and respond to a local
disaster. This drive is sponsored by partnership with the Capital Area
Chapter of the American Red Cross, Florida State University, Capital
Area Citizens Corps, University of Miami, Hands On Miami and the Miami
Dade Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster. |
