The United Partners for Human Services and VolunteerLEON awarded the second annual
Volunteer Management Excellence Award to Big
Bend
Cares. The purpose of the award is to honor a
non-profit or government volunteer program in recognition of Volunteer
Management Excellence. The
award was presented at the United Partners for Human Services Annual
Conference for Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership
celebration luncheon held on March 15, 2005. VolunteerLEON Director, Jeri Bush
recognized Big Bend CARES
for their excellence in Volunteer Program Management
by connecting people with the
opportunity to serve in mission driven volunteer opportunities and building the capacity
for effective local volunteering through solid volunteer management
practices.
Numerous volunteers in their
nomination of Big Bend CARES, praised the staff for the professionalism
of their volunteer program in all areas of volunteer management. Unique
to Big Bend CARES was their emphasis on "family and youth" volunteer
opportunities. Volunteers reported that they have been made to feel
welcome, appreciated and that their services contributes significantly
to the mission of the agency.
Congratulations to all of the staff and volunteers at Big Bend CARES
for a volunteer program that embodies excellence in volunteerism in
